Blackwater Festival - June 21, 2014

The First Annual Blackwater Fest is going to be held on the banks of the South Fork of the Edisto River at the Aiken State Park on June 21, 2014. The day will include paddling trips from Aiken State Park to Keadle Bridge, to include an up-close look at the giant potato farm which draws water from the river. The festival is going to be a great time to experience the Edisto River with camping, swimming, music, kayaking/canoeing, good food, and family fun with the community.

Friends of The Edisto are trying to make people aware of the natural beauty of South Carolina within their own Aiken State Park and promote community unity. The recent struggle over the Edisto River has made people aware that water is our most precious resource and we must balance the needs of agriculture and industry without destroying this vital resource throughout South Carolina.
